How the Concept Works

There are a few Prerequisites, but most of what is needed to solve the Crosswords can be found on this WebSite).​​​

Printable Crosswords:

  1. Print out and distribute the Printable Crossword (pdf).

  2. Play the first song in the corresponding Regular Play List (link).

  3. Ask the first question in the corresponding Question List (pdf).

  4. Fill in the answer at the designated place in the Crossword.

  5. Repeat task 2-4 until all questions been read and all songs played.

  6. Check the Answers (pdf).

Interactive (Online) Crosswords:

Basically the same approach as for the Printable Crossword, but with less need of Supporting Forms.

  1. Fill in the Interactive Crossword direct in the WebSite.

  2. Use the Adapted Play List to play the songs (link).

  3. Read the integrated questions (Question List) in the Crossword.

  4. Check the Answers (pdf), or use the Interactive Crossword functionality (Buttons).

Prerequisites

The only two things needed, and not supported by this WebSite, are:

  • A Printer (Printable Crosswords).

  • Access to the Songs included in the Crosswords and associated Playlists (preferable using your own Streaming Service).

Teamplay & Moderator

Are many people solving the same Crossword or Quiz, Individually or in Teams, and maybe also competing against each other? Then it might be a good idea to use a non-participating Moderator.

 

​There are a couple of features that will benefit extra from the use of a Moderator.

 

All Question Lists include two Optional Clues per question that can be used if all participants consider the question to be hard. This feature is easier to apply when a Moderator is used.

​

The Song List include Additional Information the Moderator can use to make some questions harder or easier. This primary effect questions where the answer is revealed a bit into the song, where the time-stamp for the revelation is noted (and the Moderator can stop the song before the revelation).

Single Play

If you solve the Crosswords alone there are a few things to consider:

You have to play the Play List without looking to much at it. This issue can be solved in different ways, where a few options are mentioned below.

 

The Play Lists QR-codes will facilitate playing the songs from another device.

Since the Question Lists and Play Lists correspond (sorted in the same way) an alternative is to use the "skip to the next song- functionality" which many devices support.

If using the pdf Question List, note that you will also see all Optional Clues. That is when the shorter form of the Question List, i.e. Question List (Short), incorporated in the Printable Crossword, comes in handy.
